Lafarge, a world leader in building materials, awarded 7 suppliers under different categories after an evaluation of more than 75 suppliers globally. Isiklar Ambalaj from Turkey won the award on “Emerging Markets” category.
Lafarge having operations all around the world in 62 countries with 64.000 employees and with € 15.2 billion annual turnover, awarded its global suppliers. Isiklar Ambalaj a member of the Isiklar Holding has been nominated as Winner on Emerging Markets Category. The award was won due to the investment made in Iraq by Isiklar after a good evaluation and creation of local solutions fitting the market needs, was received by Mr.Volkan Girisken, The GM of Isiklar Ambalaj.
Isiklar Paper Sack Plant was inaugurated in the 2nd quarter of 2013 in Erbil and has been a major supplier for Lafarge plants in Iraq. Mr.Girisken mentions that developing special products for Lafarge need, using high quality raw material, highly experienced labor force, reduced lead time, and lower cost to customer were major reasons to win this award.
Lafarge, honoured Isiklar Ambalaj as a reliable, strategic partner in this market by giving this award and some further developments can be expected in some other markets as well.
Left behind world giant
There are two main paper sack producers in Iraq, one being Isiklar Ambalaj and the other is a worldwide giant in paper and paper sack industry. Volkan Girisken, says they have started their investment before their competitors and this way they put clearly their vision to be a major player in the region. Girişken emphsizes especially an important point that for the evaluation of Lafarge award: ‘Işıklar, introduced the highest quality paper sack to Iraq market”
